Well im yet to play this game after the dreadfull start its given me. Firstly realising it has limited activations with its crappy DRM in it.
Then it gives me that really annoying windowed mode, which i have sorted out now. But here is the most irritating bug of all, when in windowed mode my game runs at a great FPS but as soon as i put it into full screen it dies, and is like im playing with an onboard GPU:3eyes. Now i have no idea why it does this, but im really starting to regret buying this game, its buggier than BF 2142 and that game was shocking. Im currently using the 180.43 drivers and still no luck. Any one else had this problem? Noobster: do you know around what FPS it was actually running at in full screen, since i'm assuming 1fps was a drastic overexaggeration of slowness?

It seems that Far Cry 2's framerate fluctuates faster than you run out of bullets in the game. Often bouncing from in the mid-high 50's or low 60's, down to the mid-low 30's. It was found that limiting the framerate to around there, by using the command 'gfxmaxfps 30' (or 35 if you want it to go a bit faster) seems to cut back drastically on the stuttering. Click to expand. Its not an exaggaeration seriously, its not like the frame rate dips or anything it hangs, period. At the start when the Ubisoft video starts and the man is walking into the sun if im windowed its fine as soon as i put it into full screen it cant even run that, or the menu screen. If i could make a video of it it would help explain it best, but i cant which sucks. In DX9 mode its fine, in DX10 windowed its fine, DX10 fullscreen just will not work.
Ive tried everything, non sli, starting in DX9 then changing to DX10, forcing it into full screen using the 'fullscreen=1' method also does the same. Its really irritating me. The game itself though is great fun, its just a shame that my experience with it so far has made the thing a little sour.
Far Cry 2 Not Full Screen Movie
I've seen people try to fix this problem on other forums and I'm wondering if it's a Windows 7 thing as most people seem to avoid giving advice on W7 except on here.Basically 2 out of 3 times the game starts in windowed mode despite all efforts to correct it. Actually, it is.
It's got a memory leak problem, which only seems to affect DX10. Once it reaches a certain usage level, it crashes. Getting 4 hours without a CTD is almost something to be proud of.Try running in DX9 mode to see if it does the same thing. Also try hitting alt-enter when it starts in windowed mode to bring it to fullscreen.Okay dumb question, Alt+Enter? Never used it.
I'm presuming that's the full screen shortcut. I would have just used the controls on the window but full screen option is greyed out. This memory leak, I'm guessing that there's no fix as of yet. I was assuming that I wasn't running out of memory cause I've got like 8Gb but obviously that goes out the window eventually. Thanks though. I'll try and find some means of tracking the memory usage on the keyboard's screen. At least that way I'd be able to save before it crashes.
Update:This game can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. Not only does it still crash in Seven with a stuck sound loop that requires a system restart, it is now doing the same thing in Vista (it never did before. It used to just silent CTD)It's a pity, because I was getting mostly solid 60 FPS (v-sync on) at 1920x1200 maximum details with x8AA. I could only dream of that when I had my 4850It's the only game that consistently does it. Don't worry man there are alot of other games out there what i will say about FC2 is that it is very buggy game like gta4 i cant even get this game to run at all on win 7 rtm.
Take it easy man.
